Founded in 1945, a laboratory was set up with Dowty Equipment to develop and produce synthetic rubber seals which were bonded to metal.
The initial experiments were carried out in a small workshop at St Marks, Cheltenham, and latterly, a small plant was set up at premises in Bath Road, Cheltenham.
Then in 1947, Dowty transferred to the old fodder store building at Ashchurch, Nr. Tewksbury and then in the late 1960's a new factory was constructed where production continued at pace.
As production increased, further plants were acquired at Milford Haven, South Wales and Mriehel, Malta.
Dowty seals produced these Bonded seals up until 1992. During the majority of this period Ashton Seals Ltd were the principal distributor for Dowty Seals.
Pamargan products Ltd was created by Ex-Dowty Seals Engineers in the 1980's and manufactured their own bonded seals in South Wales and then later in Malta, until they were later acquired by Hutchinson and the business was joined with Le Joint Francais in Chateau-Gontier, France.
We are familiar with the Dowty part numbering system for type, size and materials, so if you have any enquiries, please contact our Sales team!
